As we say goodbye to 2019, let's rewind back to some holiday fellowship and philanthropy as the ASU DeKalb Chapter gives back to the community during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Photos and details inside!

Congratulations to Shondeana Crews Morris, ASU alum ('94) and daughter of our beloved alum Ruby D. Crews on her induction ceremony as the newly appointed Superior Court judge for DeKalb County's Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit. Family, colleagues, and ASU alums came out to support Judge Morris as she took oath. More details inside.

Highlights and moments from the 10th Annual Hearts of Fire Scholarship Gala.

On Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Grant Park in Atlanta Georgia, more than 3000 supporters of Historically Black Colleges and Universities participated in the Atlanta HBCU Alliance's 5K/10K Run and Walk for Scholarships. Hundreds of the participants represented Albany State University, with the ASU DeKalb Alumni Chapter leading the way. We also met a number of future ASU DeKalb members. ASU DeKalb President Tamara Nelson says, "The theme for the race was, Run For You, Run For Them, Run For Us, and that we did. Albany State was well represented!"

The ASU Dekalb 2013 GAAHBSU experience began on Wednesday morning with a downpour! Along with the heavy rain, the lack of parking, and massive construction made it difficult for some to get to the Coverdell Legislative Office Building. Some gave up and simply went to the site of GAAHBSU, while others did show up.

Convocation: ASU Dekalb President Tamara Nelson and PR Chair Maria Boynton presented ASU Band Director Michael Decuir with another check to Feed the Band. Thanks to everyone contributing! Decuir says "Ya'll are angels".

ASU Dekalb welcomed several visitors on Saturday.

"This is just a warm up. We have to do this again!", words of excited bowler Marilyn Russell-Green.

As President, I understood Merita’s position, and reluctantly accepted her resignation.

April 2012 Monthly Meeting Highlights

Members of the Dekalb County Area Alumni Chapter of Albany State University attended Friday's day-long 2012 Founder's Day activities. The day began with the Founder's Day Convocation in the ACAD Auditorium, immediately followed by the Gravesite Ceremony on the main ASU campus, along with the Alumni Luncheon, and the Alumni General Business Meeting.

A beautiful service was held on Monday, March 12, 2012, in memory of ASU's First Lady Jo Neal Freeman.

Eight Georgia colleges will merge into four under action the State Board of Regents took Tuesday.

The Dekalb County Area Alumni Chapter of Albany State University will meet Saturday, August 13, 10:30am-12:30pm, at the Flat Shoals Library, 4022 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur GA 30034. James Burrell, Director of Enrollment Services at ASU will be the speaker.

The Dekalb Alumni Chapter of Albany State University was well represented during Saturday's Student Recruitment Training Session held on the ASU campus.

It wasn't all business at the ASU National Alumni Conference held june 22-25 in Warner Robins, Georgia!

The Dekalb County Chapter of the Albany State University National Alumni Association is named Chapter of the Year-Silver during the 2011.

Once again the ASU Dekalb alumni Chapter had the most members in attendance at the 2011 National Planning Conference held in Warner Robins, Georgia, June 22-25.

In a speech during the Awards Luncheon, Thomas told the audience, "It's all about our vision as alumni, as friends of ASU, as steadfast supporters! Not an empty vision, but one that is drawn on tried and tested experience."

Presidents of the various chapters of the Albany State National Alumni Association recently held an open forum. It was staged during the 2011 National Alumni Conference held in Warner Robins, Georgia.

DeKalb Sponsors ASU 2010 Championship Jacket

Rams and supporters participated in the end of year meeting and picnic held at Panola Mountain State Park.

The Board of Directors of the National Alumni Association met with Dr Everette Freeman on May 23rd to discuss the recent decision by the Board of Regents to elevate Darton College's Nursing Program to four-year status.

The Dekalb County Area Alumni Association of Albany State University has awarded a $1,000.00 High School Senior Scholarship to Towers High School Senior Candice Nicole Price. She is the daughter of Prentice and Neavader Price of Stone Mountain GA.

It was a full day of appreciation and remembrances!

Plenty of business was discussed at Friday's National Alumni Association meeting held on the ASU campus.

Thank you to our chapter members and guests who came out on June 8th for our monthly business meeting in spite of the heavy rainfall. Highlights include our scholarship presentation to our recipients, 50/50 raffle, and our Chapter officer induction. Check out the details!

Our May Business meeting kicked off with prayer and catching up with our fellow Rams during our ASU connections time. We got a chance to hear some great updates within our Ramily community. Our special guest for the meeting was ASU's football coach, Coach Gabe Giardina or Coach "G". Coach "G" shared a lot of information on the Athletics dept. and how we as alumni can help support the RamFund (formerly known as the Quarterback Club) by donating to keep the football scholarships going for current and future student athletes as well as create more scholarships. The goal is to raise $250,000 (15 athletic scholarships). We as alumni were challenged to start giving locally and corporately. Kudos to Vanessa Willis and Tyreece Echols for executing and completing the nomination and election process for our Chapter officers during the meeting. President Maria Boynton would like to thank everyone who volunteered at the Atlanta Public Schools Back to School Bash yesterday.

“This is a new year!” proclaimed President, Maria Boynton as she called her first meeting to order last Saturday at the Stonecrest Library Auditorium. Guest Speaker, ASU Marching Rams Show Band (MRSB) Director, Mr. Michael Decuir and his wife joined us after the meeting to talk about the journey to Pasadena, and the financing it would take to get them there.

The 2014 ASU National Alumni Association Annual Planning Conference was held in Atlanta, Georgia last week. Several ASU DeKalb members attended.

Wow! What a great 2014 Hearts of Fire and 35th Anniversary celebration for the Dekalb Alumni Chapter of Albany State University. President Tamara Nelson says, "It was jam-packed and we had a ball!" Along with ASU Dekalb, there were alumni representing the Albany, and Griffin-Crescent Alumni Chapters. Tennessee State, Tuskegee University, FAMU, Bethune-Cookman, and Fayetteville State were also represented.

ASU DeKalb completes another Campus Visitation. It was a day filled with opportunity to complete or apply to attend Albany State University. It began with anxious students and parents arriving as early as 4:45AM at West End Mall. The Harmon Brother’s Motor Coach was filled with talented students ready to visit our beloved Alma Mater. Chaperones, Ruby Crews, Michelle Jones, Maria Boynton and Tamara Nelson transported students representing 9 metro Atlanta high schools. Driver, Mr Boddie, who has a granddaughter attending ASU, ensured we arrived in time to receive greetings from the Campus Leadership.

DUNNING TELLS ALUMNI 'HELP ME PRESENT A FACE OF CONCENSUS'

The Chapter is participating in the 2013 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade on Monday, January 21. It's not Stone Mountain this year, but rather it starts at Ray of Hope Church on Highway 155 in Decatur.
