Memorial Service

Jo Neal Freeman

A beautiful service was held on Monday, March 12, 2012, in memory of ASU's First Lady Jo Neal Freeman. Dr. Everette Freeman spoke of how the two met at Tennessee State University. Her daughter Dara spoke of how her mom was a go-getter who encouraged others to "never settle". Congressman Sanford Bishop, University System Chancellor Hank Huckaby and Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard were also among the speakers. The service in the ACAD Auditorium  at Albany State University was followed by a reception in Orene Hall. Fort Valley President Rivers and his First Lady were also in attendance.

ASU Dekalb-area alumni traveled to Albany to show their support. Among those spotted in the crowd were Ruby Crews, Carolyn Glenn, Rod and Neshanta Banks, S.T. Hobbs, Bobby Terrell, Maria Boynton, and Ron Woods.
