It was a full agenda at the September 10, 2011, meeting of the Dekalb County Chapter of the Albany State University National Alumni Association:
 
Several New ASU Dekalb Members joined us!!
 
Vivian Terry Principal of Dekalb Alternative School was present to receive a truckload of school supplies collected by ASU Dekalb.  
 
Dr. Velma McCray, who leads the fundraising committee for the Legal Defense Coalition, gave us an update on the Coalition's efforts and on the December 10, 2011, HBCU Holiday Gala.  
 
Jeannie Johnson provided details of our non-profit program. She also announced that Ruby Crews won a special gift for being the first member to take the required participant test. Congratulations Ruby!
Maria Boynton provided updates on the Alumni Hall of Fame (Sat, Sept 17, Student Center Ballroom. $25), Feeding the ASU Band and participation in the Homecoming 2011 Parade.
 
Scholarship and Recruitment Chair Tamara Nelson explained that ASU Dekalb's College Fair season will begin with Southwest DeKalb High School and the Decatur Alumni Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated's EMBODI College Fair for young men in October.
  
Fundraising Chair LaVerne Campbell laid out some fundraising ideas for the year.
 
Membership Chair Neva Jones thanked everyone for participating at the September 3rd Tailgate and Membership Drive in Macon GA.  Coming soon: a gift for new members!
 
Kim Geter won the 50/50 Raffle. You go girl!
