HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED

The Dekalb County Area Alumni Association of Albany State University has awarded a $1,000.00 High School Senior Scholarship to Towers High School Senior Candice Nicole Price. She is the daughter of Prentice and Neavader Price of Stone Mountain GA.
ASU Dekalb President TaKeshia Thomas and Tamara Nelson, Chair of the ASU Dekalb Scholarship and Recruitment Committee, presented the award to Candice during a Wednesday night program held at the school. Nelson says of Candice, "She exhibits talent worthy of this scholarship, and is indicative of the kind of student we endeavor to support."
Price also received several other academic accolades including: Honor Graduate, Top 10 Percent, Superintendent Scholars AP, VP SGA Student Commitment Award, Beta Club Award plus a special recognition for being the longest member participating, and a Bronze Level Georgia Work Ready Recognition from the Governor's Office.
Candice will enter Albany State University in Albany GA in the Fall. She currently has a 3.6 Grade Point Average and, according to Candice, "I am proud to confess that during all my years of school, I have maintained honor roll status."
She is a very active student at Towers High School and in her community. Candice is President of the Beta Club, Vice President of Student Government, a member of Future Business Leaders of America, and Captain of the Dance Line. She is also a member of Young Ladies of Purpose and the Drama Club.
Candice says, "my education means the world to me. It is my drive in life and the path to my success." She also says, "Giving back to my institution is a must because they help provide the way. The Albany State University National Alumni Association is an organization I hope to become a part of in the near future." Candice goes on to say, "By preparing myself at Albany State I will open new opportunities and new doors to my future." She, her mother, and sister traveled to Albany State during a recent campus visitation with the ASU Dekalb Alumni Chapter.
Her teachers at Towers High School describe Candice as a very hardworking student and motivated young lady. They also characterize her as an exceptional student with excellent grades resulting from diligent work habits.
Dr. Angela Bush, Chair of the school's Science Department says of Candice, "I believe that she has tremendous potential as a student and I feel quite confident that she would be an asset to both student life and academics at your post-secondary institution." While AP instructor Shafeeq Rashid says, "To have the privilege to witness and participate in the development and progress of a student with Candice's talent and spirit is a rarity."
ASU Dekalb President TaKeshia Thomas says, "I am so proud of Candice for all that she has done and will continue to do. I am also extremely proud of Tamara Nelson and the effort she and her committee put forth in awarding this scholarship to a very deserving recipient."
