The Georgia State Capitol reverberated with the sounds of the Albany State University Choir Tuesday!
Thanks to all of you who came to the Gold Dome to support your alma mater. The program, held in the Capitol Rotunda, featured the ASU choir under the direction of Marcia Mitchell Hood, Director of Choral Activities and professor of Music Education. It was an outstanding performance! ASU was well-represented. ASU alumnus and ASU Dekalb member State Representative Earnest Williams (D-89), beamed with joy.
The program was moderated by Georgia State Representative Winfred Dukes (D-Albany), a graduate of Albany State University. There were also several other lawmakers who took the time to listen to the various selections and to address those of us who were in attendance, including State Senator Freddie Simms (D-12), who represents Southwest Georgia.
ASU President Dr. Everette Freeman introduced Georgia Lt. Governor Casey Cagle (R) who said, "I am proud of ASU and I was proud to support the (Ray Charles Fine Arts Center) project last year." Cagle went on to say, "When we invest in outstanding young people, there's no better way to invest in our future."
