ASU DEKALB: RUNNING AND WALKING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS!

On Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Grant Park in Atlanta Georgia,
more than 3000 supporters of Historically Black Colleges and Universities participated in the Atlanta HBCU Alliance's 5K/10K Run and Walk for Scholarships.
Hundreds of the participants represented Albany State University, with the ASU DeKalb Alumni Chapter leading the way. We also met a number of future ASU DeKalb members. ASU DeKalb President Tamara Nelson says, "The theme for the race was, Run For You, Run For Them, Run For Us, and that we did. Albany State was well represented!"

ASU Dekalb's Byron Fields has written a book.

"Byron Fields, Author of Identity From A Different Breed is helping to discover your purpose in life
by offering lessons in overcoming obstacles with testaments of his experience growing up.
The book is centered on his story of pledging the youngest African American fraternity of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.
Some of his most memorable moments include winning the 2011 Homecoming Step show, earning over $1500 as the only member of his chapter for two years prior to his college graduation."

Visit www.byronfields.com for contact details, review copies, photos, and an author bio.

ASU Dekalb's Clarence Washington would like to thank everyone who supported his teen conference.

Clarence posted the following, "What an AWESOME DAY! Youth Transformation Conference 2014 was a success!
I thank all of my group leaders, workshop facilitators, kitchen crew, registration crew,
mentors, supporters and all those individuals and organizations that donated money and supplies.
Through the 4 workshops these young people (ages 13-18) gained an abundance of knowledge.
To God be the glory! To God be the glory! To God be the glory!"

There is no ASU DeKalb Chapter meeting in July.
We will see you in August!
Meetings are held every Second Saturday at 10:30am at Piccadilly Restaurant at
South DeKalb Mall.
